Increasingly, schools are being called upon to develop programs in collaboration with parents of English language learners (ELLs) and other culturally diverse students. This report offers practitioners strategies for doing so. Based on a three-year CREDE project conducting "literacy nights" with the families of low-performing Asian American ELLs, the report presents obstacles encountered in forming home-school partnerships, theoretical frameworks and principles that guided implementation of the partnerships, and a discussion of findings for practitioners. (EPR11).
